That Time When Dick Cavett Tried to Interview Movie Stars, But They Were So Drunk the Show Couldn’t Air
Talk shows used to be pretty different. Before you had Dua Lipa eating hot wings or Adele locked in a car with James Corden, you had a few guys in suits sitting around smoking cigarettes. Crazy enough, the people loved it — mainly because you would occasionally get interactions like these.
John Cassavetes, Peter Falk and Ben Gazzara attended The Dick Cavett Show to talk about the movie Husbands, which Cassavetes wrote, directed and starred in. However, the gang decided to get drinks before the big interview, leading to an unwatchable mess that Cavett would later call the worst of his career.
